Training seniors in the usage of technology

50 Plus Computer Learning Center

The 50 Plus Computer Learning Center (formerly known as the "Palatine SeniorNet Learning Center") opened in April, 1995 through the sponsorship of the Palatine Township Senior Citizens Council. It was established to teach computer skills to older adults (50 or over) in a understandable, enjoyable, and friendly way. Since opening, over 5,000 class participants have taken advantage of our program. Taught by all volunteers, we use PC compatible computers (with Windows 7) and MS Office 2007 software for teaching Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Database, and PowerPoint.

Our training classes are open to everyone regardless of residency and age (but focused on those 50 years old or older) . You do not have to live in Palatine or belong to the Palatine Township Senior Citizens Council to attend our classes.

Technology Help Sessions

Are you having problems with those pesky techology devices? Maybe even your computer?

Are you considering a purchase of a new computer, tablet computer, cell phone, etc.? Perhaps you are a bit confused on sending/forwarding emails or attaching pictures to them.

Still have pictures on your phone or digital camera that you would like to transfer to a computer.

It doesn't matter! We can help.

Once each week the senior center will have several technology helpers available in our new computer lab at the Palatine Senior Center. So come and let them help you. Check out our schedule listed on this home page for exact dates and times.

There is no cost for this assistance and you don't have to make a reservation. You don't even have to be a member of the Palatine Senior Center -- but do check out their other programs and consider supporting them. Just stop by and ask.  If your question involves a portable device such as a tablet, laptop, cell phone, digital camera, then bring it along for specific assistance.  We do have desktop computers  in our lab running Windows 7 if your questions use that.

This is your chance to get help and check out our new lab, so stop by.
